Heath is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has been a therapist with Waterloo Counseling Center for 8 years and Clinical Supervisor for a year. He received his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Texas and his Master of Social Work from Texas State University.
He became a therapist to support the LGBTQIA+ community and to help push back against the history of stigma of queer identities in the profession. He enjoys connecting with his clients and helping them to develop self-care skills and to explore their identities.
Heath specializes in mindfulness-based approaches to anxiety, depression, and chronic illness. He uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Jungian analysis.
His mission in therapy is to help people to develop their sense of self and strengthen their connections to their communities. He provides psychoeducation on mental health and creates a supportive environment where his clients can feel heard and understood.
Heath is proud to support Waterloo Counseling Center in its mission to provide the LGBTQIA+ community with access to quality mental health services and to engage in activism to push back against harmful legislation.
In his spare time, Heath enjoys playing tabletop games and video games, as well as exploring Austin’s hiking trails.
